Purchasing Manager for Major Center of the Plate Distributor

A major player in Center of the Plate distribution, both on the retail side and in foodservice is seeking a Purchasing Manager to lead a team of eight commodity buyers. The company is very well established in several categories, has zero debt and is growing at a steady pace. This company is not content to rest on their laurels and is seeking like-minded individuals who can drive new category growth and greater market penetration.





The person who will be most successful in this role will have:

  • A successful track record purchasing high volumes of center of the plate commodities including beef, seafood, pork and poultry
  • Experience in successfully training and leading a group of buyers
  • Proven success in capturing high margins
  • A hands-on leadership style, spending more time in the trenches than behind a desk
  • A history of close working relationships with Sales, both at the corporate level and in the field
  • Strong information management skills, both for managing down (holding buyers accountable to KPI's) and managing up (reporting to corporate)
  • A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Agribusiness, Meat Science or other relevant field

This is new division because of a resent acquisition of a valve manufacture. You will be the Product Manager working closely with Regional Sales and distributors helping them sell the products, being the technical go to person. You will be the liaison to design and manufacturing for the customer. This is an all encompassing role getting involved with marketing working with Regional sales showing them where there are new potential customers. This is a very visible position offering your career to go in several directions.

Requirements:

· BS Engineering or the like

· Mobile hydraulic valve experience

· Worked with the customer, sales focused and worked in Marketing

· Able to travel 30% to customers.
