NCAC Sr. Acoustician / Acoustic Consultant

The Senior Acoustic Consultant will be responsible for multiple projects in a client facing capacity. Project types include both new buildings and retrofits in virtually all market verticals including commercial, education, government, healthcare, retail and residential.

The successful candidate shall posses the following qualities:


  • Experience in building acoustics issues such as Room Acoustics, Environmental Noise Assessment, Sound Isolation and HVAC System Noise and Vibration Control
  • The ability to think creatively, to solve problems and multi task, along with strong written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.
  • A solid understanding of acoustic principles and their real-world applications.
  • The ability to think creatively to solve problems and the ability to manage time and responsibilities are also important attributes.

The ideal candidate will work as the lead acoustical designer on numerous concurrent projects, as well as work with others in the office in an advisory role and will have the following tasks and responsibilities:



  • Attend meetings with architects, engineers and developers to review project information and drawings.
  • Conduct field surveys of noise and vibration conditions. Familiarity with measuring, monitoring and analysis equipment is necessary, and will continually be developed. Familiarity with architectural and mechanical systems is necessary, and will also be continually developed.
  • Analyze survey data to determine characteristics of noise & vibration sources, along with possible mitigative measures.
  • Review design and construction drawings developed by architects and engineers to formulate acoustical, noise and/or vibration control and treatments.
  • Become acquainted with other disciplines to be able to discuss and generally market those services.
  • Prepare reports of findings, comments and recommendations to convey to clients measures that should be taken for proper noise & vibration. Good writing skills are necessary.
  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in a related field of architecture, science or engineering is generally required.
