Mobile Hydraulics --- Technical Service Manager

You will be the working manager for Application Engineering for a well known mobile hydraulics manufacturer. They are known for their high quality products and ability to do highly engineered systems. Although they primarily manufacture for the mobile industry, they also have some excellent industrial products for this growing market. To give you a hint as to the high standards this company sets -- the company will have you and the current retiring person overlap for several months so there is a smooth transition for this key position. You will manage a small group of 4 Application Engineers and a Service Engineer. This is a key department for the company making sure the customers' needs are meet in a timely fashion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Department troubleshoots technical problems for distributors and customers.
  • Support field sales with information regarding technical aspects of products and applications.
  • Develop and present product training modules to field sales, distributors and customers.
  • Establish written policies for and manage the division’s technical services representatives.
  • Make recommendations and evaluations on improving technical services.
  • Ensure all technical inquiries that come into the division are replied to in a timely manner.
  • Create a sales oriented approach for answering technical calls and emails.
  • Assist Product Manager in developing technical manuals for each product line.
  • Apply lean principles to all processes.
  • Continuously maintain the highest degree of customer service, throughput, quality, cost reduction and people productivity

Qualifications:

  • Management experience leading a team.
  • Minimum 5 years in hydraulics with a strong mobile application background.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both oral and written.
  • A background in using Lean practices to achieve customer satisfaction in regards to technical issues with knowledge to prepare training modules for the department.
  • Strong analytical and decision making skills.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Able to travel 30%.

This is not local ----- it is in a nice mid west location ----- Can live in small town or city of less than a million. It will be a short commute from either.
